What do I need to bring with me when I vote?
Wisconsin voters need to bring a photo ID with them to the polls. There are some special considerations for students. Visit our Voter Identification page for additional information and resources.
When will I receive my absentee ballot?
Absentee ballots are mailed out 47 days before a federal election or 21 days before a primary or other election. If you submit an absentee ballot request after the first day of mass mailing the Clerk's office will process these requests every afternoon, Monday - Friday.

How can I check the status of my absentee ballot request?
Visit MyVote Wisconsin and search for your voter record. Scroll down the page to see your ballot request. Dates will appear in a blue box when the clerk receives your ballot. Typically, the Clerk's Office updates this information every afternoon, Monday - Friday.

What if I'm already registered to vote elsewhere?
Your registration cannot be transferred from another municipality unless a new registration form is completed in the City of Monroe. You will be asked to fill out a new registration form so that your prior registration can be cancelled and your voter history can be transferred to the City of Monroe. You will need to provide a proof of residence with your registration form.
What if I recently moved to the City of Monroe or have changed my name since the last election?
The Clerk's Office will ask you to complete a new registration form and provide a valid Proof of Residence with your current name and address.

How do I find out what my voting ward location?
Not all elections require a resident of Monroe to vote by ward. If an election requires residents to vote by ward, the polling location will have maps and election workers who can help you identify your ward number. If you are voting in-person absentee, the Clerk's Office will be able to assist you with your ward location number. If you are voting absentee ballot by mail, the Clerk's office will provide you the correct ward ballot.
Unless announced otherwise, the polling location for all wards shall be located at the basement floor of City Hall at 1110 18th Avenue, Monroe WI.
