Badger State Trail
Traveling 40 miles from Madison to the Wisconsin-Illinois border the Badger State Trail goes straight through Monroe providing access to additional connecting bike routes throughout Monroe and Green County. Don't forget to stop and spend a day (or two) visiting all the destinations and amenities Monroe has to offer!
Cheese Country Trail
Run by the Tri-County Trails in Southern Wisconsin group the Cheese Country Trail offers a 47 mile connection between Monroe and Mineral Point, two incredibly historic communities that offer great food and reasons to stay awhile. Cheese Country Trail can be conveniently accessed by adjacent trails, such as the Badger State Trail and other connecting routes throughout Monroe. Bicyclists should be aware the Cheese Country Trail is heavily used by ATVs. Stay safe!
Sugar River State Trail
While not traversing through Monroe, this Green County trail connecting the communities of New Glarus and Brodhead offers a 24 mile route traversing alongside the Sugar River and its tributaries.
Green County Bike Map
Put together by a 2016 UW-Extension Green County Leaders group, this map features a number of bike routes on lightly traveled roads connecting and adjacent to each community in Green County.
- Monroe West Bike Route - this map provides a closer look at the "Monroe West" route. This route runs through the heart of Monroe's beautiful downtown and takes bicyclists onto country roads south and west of the community. With plenty of green rollings hills and farms along the way. The route provides access from and to the Badger State Trail and Cheese Country Trail.
- Monroe/Juda Bike Route - this map provides a closer look at the "Monroe/Juda" route, which connects the City of Monroe with the Town of Juda. The route also runs through the heart of Monroe's downtown and provides access to adjacent trails such as the Badger State Trail and Cheese Country Trail. Get a tour of two Green County communities and the natural beauty along the way on this route.
