Welcome!
The Staff and Board of Directors are pleased that you would like to know more about our excellent facility and hope that you will want to participate in the programs and services we offer.
 
The Monroe Senior Center is proof that retirement and aging can be filled with fun, friends, continued learning and new experiences. The facility is open to those who are 55 and over from Monroe and the surrounding area. The facility does not charge a membership fee, but does at times charge small fees for trips and classes. The Monroe Senior Center opened its doors in 1980 and has been going strong ever since. The facility strives to help older adults achieve and maintain the highest quality of life possible by:
  • Providing recreation, leisure and intergenerational activities.
  • Interacting with community agencies and organizations in order to advocate for the interests of older adults.
  • Promoting and providing education, awareness, and volunteer opportunities at the center and in the community.
  • Creation of an environment where older adults can network with each other in a social setting.
  • Coordination of an informational network available to community members.

What Programs are available at the Senior Center?
The many fun and exciting classes available include: day and extended trips, computers, movies, library, line dancing, square dancing, exercise, aerobics, trailblazers walking class, bridge, UNO, euchre, knitting, quilting, men’s and ladies billiards, china painting, drawing and painting classes, wood carving, cooking classes, golden age club, spectrum art club, garden club, special entertainment, seminars, health screenings, blood pressure checks, social security representative the first Tuesday of each month, Twilighters band, low vision support group, AARP tax aid service, fund raising events, the Green County Nutrition site, and much more.
