DOG LICENSE FEES
According to State Statutes, Monroe City Code 9-2-4, your dog MUST have a current rabies vaccination in order to obtain a dog license. By state law, all dogs are required to be licensed by the municipality in which they reside. You must bring in the receipt the veterinarian gives you after your dog has received his rabies shot. We can NOT issue a license without proof of a current rabies vaccination. If you are a Landlord, please inform your tenants that they are required to license their pet(s). The fees are $9.00 if the dog has been spayed or neutered and $29.00 if it has NOT been altered.
The City encourages cats to be licensed. They must also show proof of rabies vaccinations. The cat licenses are good for the life of the cat and are $5.00 if the cat is spayed or neutered and $20.00 if they are unaltered.
