***New City Hall Office Hours***

***Important Notice***
Effective September 3, 2019, City Hall offices will change their hours of operation.

New Office Hours:
Monday – Thursday: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Friday: 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM City Hall Open to public
 Friday: 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM City Hall will be closed for staff trainings, team meetings and project  committees will convene.  We are continually improving the City of Monroe website as a way to access services outside of “open hours”.

This change will bring all full-time offices consistent with the same hours of operation.  It will also allow employees to be in office during scheduled office hours to answer questions, provide services and continue to improve communication to the public. Read More

On or about August 7, 2019 the next stage will begin for STH 11.  The $16.8 million reconstruction of STH 11 is addressing the following issues: deteriorating concrete pavement, poor ride quality and improvement of safety on the 5.5 miles of STH11.  This project is being completed in seven stages; the first stage started in September of 2018 and the final completion is anticipated by November 24th, 2019.  Stage 1A was completed in 2018 and consisted of the construction of temporary crossover lanes.  The main project of pavement replacement on STH 11, interchange ramps, intersections and bridge work started in early March of 2019.

Wisconsin 11 will be open for two-lane, two-way traffic during construction of STH 11, interchange ramps, and bridges are closed.  The Badger State Trail, from STH 11 to 18th AVE, will be closed for the duration of the project in 2019.  The trail will be detoured to CTH DR and STH 69/18th AVE.

***Please be aware of the new changes that will begin in August through October.  For the safety of everyone involved, please be alert of potential delays and as always obey all traffic signs.
On or about August 7, 2019 there will be the next stage of construction and traffic shift.

RAMP OPENINGS AND CLOSINGS from the west to the east.


STH 81(WEST) / STH 69 SOUTH) (Argyle Interchange) ALL RAMPS AND BRIDGE WILL BE CLOSED – please follow posted Detours – The Eastbound ramps will be closed starting on September 23rd.

STH 69 (North) / 18th Avenue (Monticello Exchange) ALL RAMPS OPEN at this time.

STH 59 / 6th Street (Albany Interchange) – WESTBOUND ramps will be closed and eastbound will remain open.

CTH KK – Open for RIGHT TURNS ONLY – You will be able to go east from CTH KK onto STH 11/81 or eastbound STH 11/81 and right turn onto CTH KK.***

Yard Waste Drop Off for City of Monroe residents is now open Monday - Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except for holidays, at the Streets Division at 1064 5th Avenue.   There will be no attendant on site.

Yard Waste Drop Off Rules

  1.   Bags/Boxes must be emptied and placed in barrels.
  2.   No Garbage
  3.   No Lumber
  4.   No Metal
  5.   No Furniture/Items Containing Freon
  6.   No Tires
  7.   No Plastic Pots or Containers

Flushing Water Mains

Flushing Water Mains

City of Monroe Utility crews will be doing routine water main flushing starting April 8, 2019 and continuing through October 31, 2019. The Utility flushes all of its hydrants twice a year. If you experience cloudy or rusty which is a common occurrence when performing this type of work, allow the tap to run for 3 to 5 min and it should clear up. If it does not clear up please call the Water Utility at 608-329-2483.
