Lead Service Line Replacement Program

The City of Monroe Water Utility is working to develop a program that will replace all Publicly-and Privately- owned lead service lines that are connected to the public water system in the City of Monroe. We are working with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources with the goal of receiving public grant funding that will cover all private homeowner's costs to replace their lead service line with a new plastic line into the home. If grant funding is received, a citywide lead service line replacement program could possibly occur between 2021 and 2023.

As part of this initiative, Monroe Water Utility is required to verify residential water service line materials throughout the City over the next few years. This is required to ensure that all public and private lead service lines have been identified and can be replaced.

To complete these verifications, we are asking all residents to help us by completing an inspection of their home plumbing and filling out a short survey that can be found at  Your contact information will remain confidential with the City and will not be shared outside of the City. 

Questions that will be asked on the inventory survey are:
1.  Utility account number  (this is located on your utility bill)
2.  Address of home
3.  Email of owner or resident
4.  Phone number of customer
5.  Approximate year house was built
6.  Type of service pipe entering the home 
7.  Internal plumbing material 
8.  Does your home have a water softener?
9.  Does your home have a filter for faucets or the whole home?
