City of Monroe, Wisconsin
Wilkommen...WELCOME...Wilkommen

The City of Monroe is the county seat and the largest city in Green County.  Monroe and

the Green County area are known throughout the country for the production of fine

cheeses.  We carry the title of the "Swiss Cheese Capital of U.S.A." Our Swiss heritage is evident throughout the community.

The area's current diversification in agriculture, manufacturing, and retail creates a robust

and steadfast economy.  Our future goals are to not look just to the horizons, but beyond.

As a visitor to our community, you will not soon forget the downtown area, which boasts architectural designed buildings, and is highlighted by the picture perfect Courthouse

located in the middle of the square.  You may want to top off your visit to Monroe with a

tour of the Minhas Brewery, the second oldest brewery in the nation, which is also located near the downtown area.

Monroe is very fortunate to have numerous facilities and opportunities available here to add to the "quality of life".    There are many parks, recreational facilities, and

a state of the art senior citizen center. Numerous social and cultural events are offered by

the Monroe Arts Center.   Post secondary educational opportunities are available at the

campus of Blackhawk Technical College, and outstanding healthcare is available at the Monroe Clinic.

"Monroe is a community in which you will want to live, work, and raise a family."

Again, welcome to Monroe!

Sincerely,
